Week 2 Reading Diary: Saint Kentigern and the Robin

Story from Unit: Saints and Animals.
Saint Kentigern and the Robin By: Abbie Farwell Brown

Kentigern was greatly talented and very wise for his age as a young boy. I strongly admire his will to stay above all and hold his ground. In this story he all the other boys picked on him and tried to get him in trouble. The whole time Kentigern never fought back and just keep studying his hardest. My favorite part is that he stayed true to himself, as well as his master. He was very kind hearted to his master Saint Servan. Even though it was debatable that Kentigern was smarter than his master he would never disrespect Servan.

(Kentigern)

I enjoyed reading this story and never found my self paying in-between. I was always curious so see what cleaver way Kentigern would react to the challenges he was present. How he would fix what ever situation the other boys put him in.

The ending to the story for me was unexpected, I like it though. At the end they boy decided to kill the Saints beloved bird and blame it on Kentigern. Kentigern would never do such a thing due to his loyalty and love for his master, Saint Servan. Kentigern took the bird and prayed to the heaven above to prove that he did not kill the bird. His prayer was answered and the bird was revived. I like to think that because of Kentigern's loyal heart and true self that his prayer was granted. Even though the story didn't talk much about God at the end he was there for the boy to help prove his innocents. One should always work hard at what they want and keep true to one self.

Instead of spending your time trying to bring someone down, spend that time bringing yourself up!

The truth will come out sooner or later.
